DESCRIPTION:

The route will wind towards the Clock Tower, one of the iconic points of St. Mark’s square, where an expert guide will involve you in a highly fascinating visit to introduce you to the best of Venice in just 2 hours!

Then you’ll visit the Doge’s Palace, the ancient residence of the Doges and representative symbol of the Serenissima Republic (duration approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes).

The guide will accompany you through sumptuous rooms that preserve  artistic masterpieces, furnishing elements and treasures of inestimable value.

You will  discover the complicated political mechanisms that regulated the Venetian life, the functions of each room, the palace intrigues and many other small secrets and curiosities .

You can climb the steps of the famous Giants’ Staircase and the splendid Golden Staircase. You will admire the largest canvas in the world, “Il Paradiso” by Jacopo Tintoretto and many other masterpieces by Paolo Veronese, Tiziano Vecellio, Vittore Carpaccio, Domenico Tintoretto, Jacopo Palma il Giovane, just to name a few.

The tour also includes a visit to the Bridge of Sighs and the New Prisons where the famous Casanova was also imprisoned and escaped from here with a famous and daring escape.

After the guided tour of the Doge’s Palace, the guide will accompany you to visit the Museum of St. Mark’s Basilica which is located on the first floor of the church and you will also enjoy special access to the outdoor terrace with an amazing view of St. Mark’s Square.

Your guide will lead you along the former Banquet Hall, into the rooms above the narthex and will tell you the wonderful, almost legendary, history of this Basilica which contains splendid treasures, magnificent mosaics and artistic masterpieces of inestimable value, including the original all-round four-horse sculpture, that probably dates back to the Age or Imperial Rome.

Finally, you will return to St. Mark’s square, where the guide will explain the external facades of the St. Mark’s Basilica: a real history book that tells the story of the sacred building.

Upon check-in we will handle a voucher of the tour. Please remember that you will be requested to show it to the guide. Make sure you have it with you!

Please arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the departure time specified.

The guide who will accompany you on the tour will speak exclusively in the language you chose at the time of booking, without repeating the same explanations in other languages.

This is a shared tour, which means there might be other participants going on the tour with you.

It is absolutely forbidden to bring suitcases, backpacks or bulky bags in the Basilica. Therefore we ask you not to bring any of these with you if you want to take part in this tour.

To access to St. Mark’s Museum you have to climb a steep staircase, therefore the tour is not recommended to people with limited mobility and wheelchair users.

 If you would like to continue the visit to St. Mark’s Museum on your own, you will have to leave the tour before its conclusion as it will not be possible to access the Museum again once you leave.

Unfortunately you cannot be refunded (neither totally nor partially) if you don’t show up at the meeting point at the time indicated on the voucher or if you leave before the end of the tour. Therefore we advise you to locate in advance the meeting point and how to get there in order to avoid being late or any inconveniences that would prevent you from being on time, especially in case of public transport strikes, great events or bad weather

 ​​​​In exceptional cases or due to force majeure (natural disasters, strikes or other unforeseen events), the service might be cancelled. In these cases, you will be contacted as soon as possible, and you can choose another date or request a full refund of the price you paid, if allowed by the cancellation policies.
